Proto-Yiddish (or Old Yiddish) is the first form of Yiddish. When they started evolving a language from Old High German, this was the first form, and it kind of looks like Old High German (so I’ve heard). It has a few attestations, the longest being the Bovo-Bukh, a translation of an Italian story that even features some Italian loanwords. It is also on the Worms Mahzor and in a book called “Shemot Devarim”, a German-Latin-Hebrew- Proto Yiddish dictionary from long ago.
So, I wanted to know, out of interest in Yiddish and in old languages, where I could look at P.Yiddish and read the original Bovo-Bukh, and if there is more interest somewhere.
