HURRAY! Denmark definitely deserved it. I thought it'd be a close competition between Denmark and Norway. I also enjoyed Italy's entry this year. Denmark, Norway and Italy were my top 3. I'm very pleased with the result.

I had to watch the contest on the official site of the organization since it wasn't broadcasted live on the Turkish TV. Is there any substantial source you can hook me up with on this allegation? I want to read the whole rant of ridiculous bigotry so that i'll have another motive to damn on my own country. If true, i'm tremendously embarrassed by the logic behind this decision.

miae wrote:It's not news for the rest of the Europe, but this year also Balkan had to realize the harsh truth that ESC turned into North-Eastern Eurovision Song Contest. It kinda shows the current economic situation as well: the blue countries (old rich) have some silver left and they can buy their entrance to the final. The Northern Europe manages to keep up with fresh East who'd do anything to succeed. Did a bit of characterization but that's basically it.

I don't get this map -everything red is Balkan and green is Eastern Europe? :hmm:

Denmark was a favourite? Denmark won?

Sorry, that was how I felt. :P I hadn't heard the entry before tonight, and I was quite surprised when I did, right after it was presented as a huge favourite. It had exactly the same problem as Switzerland in its refrain. Dragging, predictable, contrived melody. The rest of the song is okay, but only if it were supporting a truly nice hook in the refrain. It felt like a really... conservative song. I really would never have guessed it would be so liked. But congrats to Denmark -- it doesn't really matter what song won, and I'm sure you'll give us a really nice party next year. :)

I liked France, Hungary, Sweden and Norway. Aside from Norway, the entries at the top didn't leave an impression on me.

So, kind of boring result from my perspective. Enjoyed watching the show, though! :D And it was nice that Hungary did okay.

I'm happy because Denmark won! I loved the song and I think they really deserved it.

But unfortunately, I haven't listened to Eurovision songs of countries other than Denmark. I don't follow Eurovision so much.

Red = those who didn't get to the final. Green = those who did. Like I said, a bit characterized. Or very stereotyped.

Reinder wrote:Countries like Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are still doing way better than the Netherlands and Belgium, so I don't get your point.
Good point, except not true for this year. And Slovenia seems to be the worst competitor ever, once again ended at the very bottom (of the semi-finals).

No idea what Greece is doing so high. Azerbaijan probably got the gay votes, Finland didn't seem to get the lesbian votes. Although debatable how much those votes even count now with the jury (which made the result reporting little less predictable). But I liked the show, fun as always!
