Thanks, it looks like one of the varieties of Rusyn and is distinctly different from the language/dialect taught here. Some similarities to the Polish and Czech languages as well as a couple of specific words drive me to the conclusion that it might be the Lemko dialect of Rusyn/Ukrainian.

As far as I know, the use of present tense personal forms is optional: they all can be omitted and usually they are. I should also add that the singular forms єсм, єси, єсть can be replaced by є.

Time to revive this thread!

I've been listening to this song called "зродилися терки" by Піккардійська Терція many, many times, and now I finally decided to look up those words that I didn't understand. In the process, I also found a bit different version, which looks the "most Rusyn" to me: http://nashe.com.ua/song.htm?id=12629. I've been able to find most words, but there's still two that I don't understand.

Будеме торгати, будеме ламати з конарами. - We will tear, we will break (off?) [the sloes]... with branches? How should I understand this?

Прелож, мила, дручкы, прейду помалючкы, каждий вечер. - I suppose this is about putting to the side the bars that block the door, so that they can go out? Would прейду be прийду or пройду in Ukrainian, or still something else? And the biggest question: what is помалючкы?

I hope there's still someone who knows Rusyn around here to help me out!

As to the second phrase, I think it means something like ‘put some sticks (дрючки) over <the swamp (мочар)>, I will cross it slowly (помалечку) every evening <to see you>’...

It’s poetry (що-небудь таке, що хвилює, діє на уяву), don’t even try to make a user’s guide on how to pick sloe berries out of a folk love song (the guy seems to find tearing branches together with his beloved girl far more interesting than caring about how to put the berries into his basket; I may even suppose he was going to offer the girl some more joint work after they finally realize they needed berries, not branches...)

Most of these forms are nowhere to be found in spoken language. Єм, єсь, сьме and сьте are used instead of єсм, єси, єсме and єсте (in that order).

But then again, there is great variation between different dialects.
