Warning eesti keelt

Postby Pauro » 2009-01-31, 17:49

Tere!

Just a little help please.
Could you tell me the Estonian version of the warning from trains or underground
"Do not lean against the doors!" ?

Looking forward for reliable replies. :doggy:

One translation of that would be "Ustele mitte toetuda," but I haven't really paid attention to that in public transport so if you want the specific phrase that's actually used, I can't help.

Thanks for reply.
What would you say about "ÄRA TOETU (or maybe NÕJATA)!" ?

There's no such sign actually. We don't have any underground here. I guess in Estonia the population is smaller than in Warsaw :). Half of the population lives in Tallinn and outskirts, about 500 000, Tallinn itself 400 000. There are 100 000 inhabitants in Tartu and mostly Russian speaking immigrants/colonists in the North East - those are the main centres in here.

Keele foorumis sellist arvamust avaldada ei sobi kohe mitte! :?

I do not share his opinion that other nationals here today are immigrants/colonists.

See ei ole arvamus, see on fakt.

Estonians haven't invited Soviet colonists here, so let me and my fellow Estonians speak in fear terms.

I agree. Over 90% of people living in Narva are Russian. Even the police can't speak Estonian in Ida-Virumaa. That part of the country is pretty much lost to us.

My mates here are just planning to go to Narva. That is somehow a city I don't long to, though, being here for so long time, I should see it of course. I'll be very close in Idu-Virumaa anyway, in a village where everyone is Estonian.

Prepear your Russian skills now!

Answer: ja iz Vengriji! ne gavarju pa russki! Ja ne fašõst!

The Hungarians have also some history that the eastern Stalinists might not agree with. :D.
