My dad has a Greek friend and asked me ( ) to find out how to say "Hi, how are you?". Could I have the Greek, the latin transcription, and the closest English can get to pronouncing that?

Greek: Γεια σου. Τι κάνεις;
Latin: Geia sou. Ti kaneis?
Pronunciation: Ya soo. Tee kah nees?

Bold letters show where the stress is. :)

What kind of pronunciation you want? The language seems to be Koine Greek and it had a different pronunciation than modern Greek

I woud like to have Koine Greek pronunciation if possible, but Modern Greek would be OK too.
Thank you.

The following english translation of this passage(Plato, Protagoras) is taken from this:
http://emotional-literacy-education.com ... rtgs10.htm

At the same time he felt for the truckle-bed, and sat down at my feet, and
then he said: Yesterday quite late in the evening, on my return from Oenoe
whither I had gone in pursuit of my runaway slave Satyrus, as I meant to
have told you, if some other matter had not come in the way;--on my return,
when we had done supper and were about to retire to rest, my brother said
to me: Protagoras is come. I was going to you at once, and then I thought
that the night was far spent. But the moment sleep left me after my
fatigue, I got up and came hither direct.
I, who knew the very courageous madness of the man, said: What is the
matter? Has Protagoras robbed you of anything?

Γεια σας!
I like the song "Μείνε δίπλα μου", and i sought its lirycs, in stixoi.info, and the words "μείνε δίπλα μου, ανάσα μου κι αγέρι την αλήθεια μου κανένας δεν την ξέρει" are translated in english as "stay nex to me my love my truth no-one wants it". I think is not exactly right. can help me anyone? And another question, do you use in Greek the word καληνύχτα as a loving word? Ευχαριστώ πολύ!

Translation: "Stay next to me, my breath and (my) wind, no one knows my truth"

About καληνύχτα as a loving word: not really...

And please post some links to download them if they are available online.

I want the Greek Alphabet Song because I have trouble memorizing the Greek Alphabet order.

Thanks!

I don't know any alphabet song.. perhaps there is one but I am not aware of it. At school we didn't sing any song for the alphabet.

The birthday song is:

Να ζήσεις (...)
και χρόνια πολλά
μεγάλος/η να γίνεις
με άσπρα μαλλιά
παντού να σκορπίζεις
της γνώσης το φως
και όλοι να λένε
να ένας/μία σοφός

Where I wrote (...) insert the name of the celebrating person

The Greek version of L'International

Postby lishaoxuan » 2007-11-30, 1:10

As we know, the l'International is translated into many languages around the world.
I have trouble finding the Greek Version of the lyric online.
Anyone knows it?
