A nice little selection of Georgian MP3s can be found at http://allmp3.ge/.

One particular favourite singer of mine is Tamona Amonashvili. If anyone can recommend another good Georgian singer/group, please let me know. ;)

Is it my problem or a problem of my connection but I can only listen to a song 'Pirveli kocna'. Ok, my knowledge of Georgian alphabet is also below zero, can you help?

There are lots of online sources for the Georgian alphabet, including http://www.armazi.com/georgian/ . It's not difficult to learn, just requires a bit of persistence and practice.

Georgia will participate in Eurovision Song Contest for the first time.
The singer is Sofico Halvashi. I wonder if she sings in Georgian in this link:

She's just great!

Off topic but this jabolino doesn't know how to write the name of a Latvian city near Riga...

The song is partly in Russian too. The Jurmala (long u, I can't technically write it right now, but you understand it, Alcadras?) song festival was kind of 'Eurovision of USSR' and as I see it still exists. This song kind of carries on those traditions how a popular song had to sound in 1980's Jurmala song contest. Also in that sense that the song had to be partly in Russian.

One correction: 'Nu Virgos' (or 'VIA Gra') is a Ukrainian girl band (originally it was a duet, one girl was from Kharkiv/Kharkov, the other - from Odesa/Odessa). Here is their site.

Cuncik, I’ve always wanted to have the song ‘Tbiliso’ by Tamar Gverdtsiteli. Could you please give me a link (music and lyrics)?

lyrics:

Is there Georgian rock?!
What artists/bands recommended?

What about georgian hip-hop?

Are there subgenres for the traditional folk music re-recorded, like done by Elisioni in georgian legend project, and the gandagana version by Kaha Ciskaridze? How would you classify each type of music? Simply as 'neofolk'?

If anyone can answer at least 1 of these questions, I'd be very glad :D
Learning Georgian, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Papiamentu from scratch. Trying to brush up my Norwegian up to an advanced level.

Well, I could certainly recommend to all Georgian music lovers the legendary Hamlet Gonashvili, the choruses "Rustavi" and "Kartuli Khmebi".
