Thanks guys for your support! :woohoo:

I started cycling through my language plan. I did "Arabic reading" (next story from the reader), and I'm now at "Kurdish songs". Here's the song that I picked:

Pêşiya Malê - In front of the house
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfLGpwOsxaY

It's about a lad who cannot pay the dowry that the family requires for the girl that he loves. The girl escapes with him to the mountains against her father's will.
Lyrics: https://kurtcesarkisozu.com/2014/06/meh ... zleri.html

Interesting words:
qelend - dowry
xwar - curved, rêya xwar - a curved road

Thanks! The video is compiled of scenes from the film "Min dît" (I saw), and that's what I consider watching when I get to the "Kurdish videos" round in my plan.

This comment under the song is just  : Allah kürtlere dert vermiş anlatsın diye ses vermiş.

I'll use the beauty of Vijay's method that I can stay on the same round from the plan as long as I want, and I'll listen to another Kurdish song.

The song is:
Şev Çû - Night has passed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt0TOvLfoxA

It's a call to one's beloved, expressing one's longing and loneliness when she is away -- a common motive in Kurdish songs (and worldwide). The video shows beautiful sceneries of Diyarbakır.

Lyrics: https://www.secdem.net/ilahi-sozleri/ku ... zleri.html

Interesting vocabulary:
dialectal "narazim" - I am not lying down, I am not going to bed.
In standard, it's "ranazim".

The ergative is used correctly when both subject and object are personal pronouns:
(te ez) tenê hiştim - you left me
wê ez kuştim - she killed me
In spoken language, I often hear the incorrect use of the ergative in this case:
*te min hişt, *wê min kuşt

werandin - to bring
It's the first time I've encountered this word. The word I know for 'to bring' is anîn.
'Werandin' is interesting in that it is formed as the causative aspect of 'werîn' (to come), just like in the Turkish pair 'gelmek - getirmek'.

Next round is "Turkish videos". For this, I was going to watch the next episode of the series "Kalbimin sultanı", but I've found that it is blocked in Turkey, and I couldn't be bothered with setting up a proxy and all that jazz just to be able to watch it. I need to reactivate my Netflix account, and until then, I'll just watch a couple of youtube videos.

This educational channel looks good:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlxTCYMWnYE

This particular video is about the Arab Spring. For short videos, I'll try to make sure I understand every single word, and pause and wind back when I don't understand something.

It wasn't about the Arab Spring after all, but about the Arab Revolt. I didn't find it very interesting because I know little about the Ottoman history and I lacked the context. Which reminds me, I need to read up on the Ottoman history.

Besides this video, I also watched the last episode of "Lost in space" on Netflix in Turkish. Next, I'll probably watch the Turkish fantasy series "The Protector" (in Turkish "Hakan: Muhafız").
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7668518/

With this, I'm finishing my "Turkish videos" round and I'm ready to move on to "Arabic songs"!

I listened to this song:
كُن أنت - Be yourself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKVW_wJs91Q

Lyrics:
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/kun-anta ... rself.html

Interesting words:
أقلّد - I imitate
أتفاخر - I boast
مَظْهَر - appearance

ِAnd I also listened to this song from the same guy:
كن فضولياً - Be curious
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Aaj3-sMPPE

It was much easier, I only didn't know two words:
فكّك أشياء وركَبها - take things apart and put them back together

Look what I found! It's a song in Turkish, Kurmanji, Arabic and Zazaki, with wonderful views of Turkey.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FudU_m8kbk

It was used by AKP as their election song at 2015 general elections in Turkey. Somehow I missed it back then! (maybe because I had newly arrived to Turkey, and I had no idea what Kurmanji or Zazaki is? :))

Lyrics: http://www.milliyet.com.tr/grup-tillo-d ... m-2121172/

The part in Arabic sounds like it is sung in an Arabic dialect spoken in Turkey. It starts here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FudU_m8kbk&t=1m26s

Transcription and translation:
Kullu muslimin ihveh, cealennellahu ihveh
Li vekfi kahr el umme es sulhu hayrun ya ihveh

Müslümanlar kardeştir, Allah bizleri kardeş eyledi.
Yeter artık üzülmesin analar. Barış içinde yaşamak en hayırlısıdır

I watched Min Dît. Just like all the Kurdish films I've watched so far, it's very sad and heart-breaking.

Next on my list is Turkish reading. I'll read a chapter or two of "İnce Memed".

I'm loving these Kurdish songs, and seeing how much Kurdish resembles Persian convinces me that I have to learn it some day.

Thanks! It's nice to know that my posts stir interest to Kurdish.

It wasn't the turn of Turkish videos but I watched the film "Tükeniş" (Extinction) on Netflix.

Also today once again I had a fiasco with Arabic. My friend who is a cafe owner here in Antalya found 6 lost children on the street and took them to his cafe, just when I came up to meet him. I tried to talk to the children, and while I understood that they were from Palestine, their mother is here and their father works in Jordan, I could not understand where their mother is now and why she left them. I gave up and called my Syrian friend and let him speak to them. After that, they gave us their mother's phone number written on a piece of paper, we called it and she came.

I felt very helpless when they were trying to explain me something anxiously and I couldn't understand them.

Do you have that much space for us all?

Well, at least you could help the kids after all, even though that must have felt quite bad indeed.
