"Is"? I don't have an "is" at the start of any of my words.... :hmm:

Where my fingers to fast?

Also, I'll readily admit a verb or two was hard to conjugate, so that might explain some of the apparent discrepancies with pronouns.

What I mean is "LS", not "is". Anyway, I suppose it would be against the rules if you fixed it now, so I'll just take a guess what you might have meant.

I'll simply say I meant "los" and leave it at that. :P

No idea if it still makes any sense, but I sent the Latin text to Ser. Hope it doesn't matter too much that I couldn't remember any grammar. :noclue:

Wow, only two more translations and we're done with this game at last!

We might be on the last translation. OldBoring told me that he might not have enough time for his translation. I'm waiting to hear back on if he can commit or not. If not, then I'm going to ask Ser to translate into English.

That's too bad. That would make Indonesian our only non-IE language in this game. :( (Not counting Seneca and Cayuga, of course...I guess I'll have to rely on those to make the difference :P).

But you had to translate into Polish instead, so Indonesian would still be the only non-IE language.

But it won't be the only one we end up including a translation for in this thread after the game ends. ;)

Any word on FUBAR by the way? Did OB ever reply to you? Did you tell Ser to translate to English instead of Mandarin?

Oh shoot, I completely forgot about FUBAR! I'll message Ser now.

I noticed you sent me no message about this. :bummer: :hmpf:

Okay, I translated kevin's Latin into English and sent it to you. It had many mistakes as it's expected in a FUBAR game, so I did my best to reconstruct the text by thinking what words kevin would've looked up to get the words he used.

The game is done! :D

I'm sorry I didn't get on dEhiN's case about this more (and sooner). You know, after having sent him a contrived translation (of a certain text) in a language he doesn't know all that well yet.

Oops, was it that bad?

I mean, I know there are a few things where I didn't even understand what the Old English word was trying to say, so I just translated it into the option that seemed the least unreasonable. I think there were even some places where I knew that the Old English was wrong, but I kept the translation faithful to my source anyway. ;) But if there are really a lot of mistakes and you need to "reconstruct" the text, I'm sure I contributed a good share of them because when I got the text, it wasn't completely nonsensical yet.

I can't wait to see the result! :)

There were a few places where I felt the Polish was a bit off, but I did the same and translated it faithfully. One particular place was were a past tense verb form was used where I'd exprect a present or future form.

That's a lot better than a seemingly random distribution of singular and plural forms (and gender) that makes hardly any word agree with another. :D

That's because it was conditional mood ('he would fall'), but in a context where it has to be expressed with a past tense verb form in Polish as far as I can tell.

In your translation it ended up as "behete", which could be either indicative and subjunctive anyway, so I read it as subjunctive. And that gave me trouble because I didn't remember how conditional sentences work in Latin. I expected to mess up the grammar much more than the vocabulary, so I'm somewhat surprised that Ser seems to have had more trouble with the vocabulary I used.

Well, IIRC it's the same deal there: you have to use the conditional form in the then-clause, and the conditional form is obiecałbyś, but you can't use that after czy, so it becomes czy obiecałeś instead.

EDIT: Or am I totally wrong about that?
