For me, regain doesn't sound as fitting as recover (or get back). Regain has a connotation of material possession - to get possession back of something. Recover can be used for both material and non-material things. At least, that's in my experience.

Final Update

I didn't really do much... (I blame it on Netflix :P )

(fr)

Grammaire progressive du français - perfectionnement (page 37/281)

(es)
I finished Cuba, una Historia :bounce:

(he)

Colloquial Hebrew (page 67/271)
L'hébreu dans votre poche (page 36/87)

I did watch a lot of movies/series in these 3 languages, though... :P

All things considered, I can't say I achieved all my goals for this year, but it wasn't a total failure either.

Hey Luís, how's it going? I have a question. You seem to incorporate watching native media quite a bit into your language learning approach. Do you wait until you're at a certain level before you do it? How do you deal with words/phrases that aren't familiar? Do you watch with subs in a language you know well or fluently? Do you overall just watch the media (whether with subs or not) and let yourself eventually start to pick out words? Or do you painstakingly write out every new words, pausing the media as need be?

I think it works best if you already have a good level in the target language (in my case: French and Spanish)

When it comes to Hebrew shows, I watch them just for fun. I'd say it mostly helps with prosody, but I'm not learning that much from them.

I note them down.

I watch with subs in the same language I'm trying to learn (French movie with French subtitles, Spanish TV show with Spanish subtitles, etc.)

I'm already comfortable with these languages, so there aren't that many words/phrases I don't know (maybe 2-3 words per episode, but it depends a lot*). I tend to note them down (without pausing) and look them up later.

* for instance, last week I watched an episode of Plan Coeur (a kind of French "Sex and the City") and there was so much slang in it, I noted down over a dozen words/expressions)
