English (Ser) - French (Acceptance4All:)) - Portuguese (Luís) - Mandarin (OldBoring) - Tamil (vijayjohn) - Spanish (dEhiN) - Italian (Car) - Irish (linguoboy) - German (kevin) - English (księżycowy)

Correct.
Salajane wrote:Can I be included somewhere now that I'm no longer the host?

I'm having trouble seeing how to make that work, unless perhaps we have Spanish or Portuguese twice.

EDIT: Maybe if voron wants to join and linguoboy's fine with going from Mandarin, we could do this?

English (Ser) -> French (Acceptance4All:)) -> Portuguese (Luís) -> Ukrainian (Salajane) -> Kurmanji (voron) -> Tamil (vijayjohn) -> Spanish (dEhiN) -> Italian (Car) -> Mandarin (OldBoring) -> Irish (linguoboy) -> German (kevin) -> English (księżycowy)

Yes, that's the chain. I'll keep you guys updated.

You mentioned agreeing on a new chain was a problem but now it's not...?

Changing the order of the entire chain seems problematic to me, but I don't see why simply adding an extra link to it should be as long as it's feasible (we already deleted a link, and that hasn't been a problem so far, so...).

That being said, I'm not sure it is feasible. My understanding is that her languages are essentially English, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Estonian. We already have other people translating into English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and it doesn't seem as if anyone else in the chain knows Ukrainian or Estonian. I might be able to manage Ukrainian since I know some other Slavic languages, or I could try Estonian if I really have to (although that might make this game FUBAR), but it seems as if no one else knows Chinese besides you, OldBoring, and me. :hmm: So I don't see a way to make this work unless we want to repeat English, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Even though it'd be nice to have Salajane, I feel like for the sake of ease, it might be better if she sit this BTG out? Adding in a new link will still require everyone involved to be ok with it, or at least be aware of it. Removing the one link didn't really change anything except get the game started, so we didn't have to wait for agreement from everyone.

Why would it? The only thing that would change as a result of that would be who the previous person sends their translation to and who the next one gets hers from.

Yeah I see your point. Well, if Ser is ok with it since he's now the host, and you can find a chain that works, it'll be fun to have another language in there. Also, we could double the languages; didn't Car or someone else say that's happened in the past?

Oh, it's definitely happened in the past. I personally think that's really boring and too easy, plus it doesn't allow for as much linguistic diversity, but yes, it's possible and isn't against the rules. Apart from that, I don't know how it works.

Ehh, it didn't strike me as hard at least... The most difficult thing in it is that the original English has an indirect statement with an infinitive, along the lines of "I know which road to take", which can be approximated by a simpler construction like "I know which road we should take". At some point the word "random" is also used, which can be hard to translate in some languages. Other than that it should be fine?

If there is no possibility to include me, I'll wait till the next game, it's not interesting to double the languages.

Sorry about that, Salajane!

Acceptance4All:), are you still working on your translation? If I'm not mistaken, you have one more day. :hmm:

I am indeed. Just FYI, I only offered my place to Salijane to be kind and not because I found the passage to be too difficult. You are correct I believe that I have one more day. I have a lot of going on currently, therefore, assuming I have not passed the deadline, I have been using the time allotted me. My apologies to those waiting their turn. 😊😀

No worries! These kinds of games just make me insatiably curious about what's going on sometimes. :P

Yes.

So, I guess the chain currently stands as this:

English (Ser) - French (Acceptance4All:)) - Portuguese (Luís) - Mandarin (OldBoring) - Tamil (vijayjohn) - Spanish (dEhiN) - Italian (Car) - Irish (linguoboy) - German (kevin) - English (księżycowy)
