I won't burden you with unsavory languages, Vijay. I'll just do Cayuga all by myself....

And you can do Aleut all by yourself, since that what you seem to want....

Let's have seasonal gatherings for Slavic languages as well!
The name could be something like Посиделки.

Now I wanna join the Slavic, CSAIL, and South Asian ones! We should also start one for Austronesian languages.

I was honestly toying around with the idea of adding some Polish back at least once a week. Could be a good excuse to do a cultural/language "festival" similar to a Powwow.

I'd be curious as to where such an announcement/discussion would go though. It's not tied to any particular Slavic language/branch, and most of them have their own forum/thread. Maybe the general language thread?

So, Vijay, how are all of these study groups going for you?

Is the number of groups getting to you yet? :P

The ones I can name off the top of my head are:
Aleut, Cayuga, Tamil, Kurdish, German (kinda), Polish, Irish, Sumerian. I think Turkish might be in the mix as well, and maybe Urdu.

*Walks into Vijay's room to check on him*
OH MY GAWD! HE'S ON THE FLOOR!
*Checks vitals*
WHAT HAPPENED!?
*Sees work on a ton of language textbooks sprawled around the room with manic notes scribbled all over and a computer on and open to Unilang. An unfinished post primed to be sent.*
He must have ODed on languages!

There's both an Aleut and Cayuga group?? Who's in them - just you and Vijay?

Yes, and at the moment, yes.

Remember? We talked about a comparative Eskimo-Aleut study group?

Yes, I remember that, but I didn't realize that was because there was an existing Aleut group.

voron wrote:Also French, with David.

And another user. I was thinking this morning about starting a Spanish group because I'm finding the study groups really helpful in keeping on track with progressing through my language studies. And so I was thinking to try and cajole VIjay into joining up! :D Except that I would probably need to start more of a beginner group, and I believe Vijay's level is a lot higher than that.

księżycowy wrote:We're up to 12 so far. Any more? :P

Well, VIjay had suggested doing a Portuguese (and possibly Spanish) group in the past. I stopped Portuguese for now, but perhaps next year I'll start it up again with Vijay through a study group. I also had suggested doing an Austronesian group next year, which we could probably get him to join. :D

The Aleut group came into existence days before the whole comparative thing came about, so they basically spawned at the same time.

And you can have Vijay when I'm done with him! I call dibs! :hmpf:

I used a romanization! But thambi means younger brother.

Doesn't matter how you write it, it's still scribble speak.
