Basic math translation

Postby leppie » 2018-10-02, 16:39

In italian there are special names for particular kind of (polinomial) equations of degree two, namely given a polinomial equation ax2+bx+c=0 whe call it (I use the italian names)
pura, when b=0 and so it becomes ax2+c=0 (pura=pure, neat, mere)
spuria, when c=0 and so it becomes ax2+bx=0 (spuria=spurious)

We was wondering where those names come from, and the answer could maybe found also considering the existence of similar (o different) terminology in other languages.

forse è solo pigro.
Ma se ignora la zanzara,
allora è davvero addormentato.
