How about a game about synonymuous words, and why not even phrases.
Mängu eesmärgiks on leida võimalikult palju sünonüüme eelneva mängija poolt antud sõnale. Näiteks, kui eelmise mängija poolt kirjutatud sõnaks on:
The purpose of the game is to find as much synonyms as possible to a word that was given by the previous player. For example, if the word written by the previous player is:
- tuhlis (a word for potato, used in Saaremaa for example)
... then the next player adds at least one synonym (although, the more, the better):
- kartul
- maaõun (earth-apple)
- maaubin (ubin = apple in South-Estonian dialects)
- and why not even kardulas
... and gives a new word that (s)he knows has at least one synonym.
One does not have to use words from literary language only - one can use words from all Estonian dialects (many dialectical words are also used in literary language: both in everyday life and in literature, but in a bit different form). Including separate languages, like Võro language.
There are also many words that one can not find from any dictionary, but has heard in some places of Estonia, outside of Tallinn, or spoken by older people - these words are also OK (but I guess this is more of a privilege of the natives and locals).
Ei pea kasutama vaid üksikuid sõnu, sobivad ka fraasid ning lühikesed laused. Üksiku sõna tähendust võib selgitada fraasiga ning vastupidi:
One does not have to use single words only, phrases and short sentences are also OK. The meaning of a single word can be explained with a phrase and vice versa:
- vestma -> puupulka noaga voolima (to shape a wooden stick with a knife)
- puupulka noaga voolima -> vestma
Kui sa ei ole mõnda sõna varem kuulnud ega ei leia selle tähendust või ei ole kindel, et sa tead selle sõna tähendust õigesti, siis ära pelga seda lihtsalt ära arvata - see teebki mängu veel põnevamaks ning keegi lõpuks ikka parandab sind.
If you haven't heard a word before and don't find it's meaning, or you are not sure if you know its meaning correctly, then don't be afraid to make an educated guess - this makes this game even more fun, and somebody will eventually correct you anyway.
And if you have any suggestions then share them.
Alustame millegi mitte väga keerulisega (lisasin ka omastava ja osastava käände ainsuse ning igaks juhuks ka tähenduse):
Let's start with something not very difficult (I also added singular genitive and singular partitive, and the meaning, just in case):
mulk, mulgu, mulku ............................... hole
