Sure, if you can find someone to translate from either Cayuga or Tagalog other than me. (I AM NOT YOUR LANGUAGE MAID!).

Irusia (Tagalog) -> me (German) -> kevin (Irish) -> you (Japanese) -> IpseDixit (Hebrew) -> Saim (Catalan)

Hm, did I qualify for the FUBAR BTG with my attempt at this combination in the normal one? :P

I don't see Seneca in there. ;)

Nah, it was just an idea. I mean, Saim didn't even participate in this broken translation game, but I listed him anyway because he knows a fairly wide variety of languages, too. He'd almost be as good of a linguistic wildcard as me! :doggy:

What do you mean "speak for yourself"? I am pushing for Seneca!

And of course you don't see Seneca in there! Because, if you followed the flow of the conversation, you said "what if I (as in me) translated from Seneca", to which I (after joking around a bit) I said I could translate Seneca into "Irish, Japanese, or Modernish Hebrew". Did I lose you?

I thought so. But if I even take part, I'd prefer something crazier for this one (crazy for my standards, not yours). Don't know, Czech to Icelandic, Latin to Scottish Gaelic, Yiddish to Ancient Greek, Rumantsch to Hebrew... okay, maybe not the latter. :silly:

See, this is pretty much why we need to pull out our best cards. A NAIL, an AAL, a Caucasian language, even an Papuan language! Let's do a crazy ass FUBAR! :silly: :silly: :silly:

Then how about this for something a bit more realistic? :P

Irusia (Tagalog) -> me (Seneca) -> księżycowy (Irish) -> kevin (Latin) -> Serafín (TBD)

(Idk who else knows any Latin besides księżycowy, kevin, Serafín, Babelfish, and Bernard, and I wouldn't expect the latter two to even see this thread, let alone participate).

Wait, since when do I know Latin? I have a very rusty knowledge of Classical/Koine Greek, but I don't really know any Latin.

And fuck realistic. CRAZY!!!!!! :silly:

Oh, I thought you might know some because you were thinking of studying some at one point, weren't you? I didn't realize you'd be starting from zero.

So we can start? I just need to choose a text and translate it into Tagalog, right?

Are you all signing up for the game?

I'm not so sure. Earlier in this thread, Luís had said:
Well, usually the moderator of the game can't participate because he/she knows the original text and has access to all the translations in between.

(Of course he was talking about the Broken Translation Game, but FUBAR seems pretty similar to that, so I'm guessing this applies to FUBAR as well). So maybe we should get someone else who won't participate in the game to moderate it instead? :hmm:

Anyway, we should definitely open a new thread for this before starting the game and take a look at the earlier FUBAR games so we follow the correct format and know the rules. :)

We also mentioned that if the moderator is the first person to translate the text, then there should be no problem.

It's better if you guys open a new thread and ask who wants to participate and which languages they're able to translate to and from.

Then I can be the moderator. But no sooner than January. If you want to start earlier, then start without me and include me somewhere in the end of the chain.
