I was revisiting a few 90s KPOP -- the KPOP as I remember when I was actually living in SK -- and I felt like sharing a few.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72BqCAmhnxk

god - 어머님께(Dear Mother) (1999)

The band's name is "officially" pronounced as gee-oh-dee and is for some goddamn reason always spelled in lowercase only, though the video I link doesn't. Hmmm. Just a generic South Korean boy band, nothing remarkable about this song, other than the song supposedly based on the real story of one member. For me, god is the twilight of an era that transitioned to something else by 2000s.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exPzyNBO5cs

이정현(Lee Junghyun) -00001, GX 339-4, 와(Wa) (1999) This is her debut performance. The TV subtitles of the song titles are, actually, wrong.

She was then dubbed the "techno goddess"; pretty fitting, as she was the one who popularized it. My taste is heavily electronica, to an extent I'd prefer synthesized electronic music than actual pipes and strings... and ultimately, she's the causa prima. Looking back now, she was Lady Gaga before there was Lady Gaga.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvpU-7BO0JE

자우림(Jaurim) - Magic Carpet Ride (2000)

I think they've set the direction that KPOP music videos would set from then. Flashy, colorful and vibrant. Although I haven't been to one for years now, I would still probably sing this in a karaoke. And unless the company is too young to even know them and if the company is sufficiently drunk, they'll probably join.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAsMh0zyH3o

박지윤(Park Ji-yoon) - 성인식(Adulthood Ceremony) (2000)

She is the product of Park Jin-Young, who was a singer himself and found the JYP Entertainment. Still a young music agency, JYP made a statement. The camerawork, choreography, bold and suggestive lyrics and the music itself, and the cinematic cutscenes. It set another trend of KPOP which built upon the formula set here.

While I consider this to be something like the KPOP Manifesto, the artist herself was later said to be quite unhappy about oversexualizing her performances. She had an existing music career, where she was a teenager star who played more on innocence than sex appeal. While this was a hard hit to her person, I don't think anyone else could have delivered the seismic wave on the same scale, had JYP chosen someone else for this.

This is a video of folk songs and dances from Agrigento performed in 2007. Agrigento is a city on the southern coast of Sicily, and a distinct dialect of Sicilian is spoken there. I'm not 100% sure right now whether the first song in this clip is actually in this variety of Sicilian or just in Standard Italian or something (I think it is in this variety of Sicilian, though; I think I just heard something like acentu), so I'm putting it here rather than in the minority languages song thread. :P The other songs in this clip appear to all be instrumental:

This is another Sicilian song, possibly also in Agrigentino like the last one I posted here or possibly in Trapanese, spoken in Trapani, which is located in the westernmost corner of Sicily (Agrigento borders Trapani to the southeast). It's a folk song called "Amuri Di Carritteri." The lyrics may be found both in the video description and twice in the comments; one of the commenters also translated them into (Standard) Italian. The versions in the comments match this clip more closely:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaASzDfVW-E
EDIT: Okay, I guess it was just Agrigentino again after all. :doggy:

EDIT2: Well, here's another one that apparently is in Trapanese! :silly: It has subtitles in (Standard) Italian:

Arbëresh is a variety of Albanian spoken in various isolated parts of Southern Italy. It comes from the Tosk variety of Albanian spoken in southern Albania. One area where Arbëresh is spoken is in the Province of Palermo, whose capital is Palermo, the capital of Sicily itself. The largest Arbëresh community in Italy is located in this province in a town called Piana degli Albanesi. This is a song in Arbëresh from Piana degli Albanesi called "Vemi":

San Fratello is a town(?) in the Metropolitan City of Messina, which is basically equivalent to a province within Sicily, just to the east of the Metropolitan City of Palermo (and thus in the northeastern part of Sicily). There is a Gallo-Italic variety spoken in San Fratello. This is a song in that variety called "Suagn 'nti mari," meaning 'I am under(?) the sea', performed by Eleonara Bordonaro, a Sicilian singer who performs in various language varieties spoken in Sicily. The clip begins with some remarks introducing her in Standard Italian, followed by her reading out the lyrics in Gallo-Italian and then their Standard Italian translation. Then she sings it in Gallo-Italic. The lyrics in both Gallo-Italic and Standard Italian can be found in the video description:

The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago just off the northern coast of Sicily, and there's a variety of Sicilian (or perhaps multiple varieties) specifically spoken there. The largest island is Lipari, which I believe is where this piece is from. It's a tarantella from the Aeolian Islands at any rate and I at least think is in a variety of Sicilian. Singing begins at 1:15, after the instrumental intro:

Cilentan is a variety of Neapolitan, the local language of Naples and an Italo-Dalmatian language like Sicilian. Cilentan is specifically spoken in and around Cilento, on (and just off) the southern coast of the Italian province of Campania (Naples is further along the coast to the north). Agropoli is one town in Campania where Cilentan is spoken; IIUC the variety of Cilentan spoken there is heavily influenced by Neapolitan. This is a song from Agropoli called "La mia terra"; I'm not entirely sure whether it's in Cilentan or just Standard Italian, but I thought I might have heard at least some dialect in the lyrics:

This is a song in Molisan from the 23rd Molisan Dialect Song Festival, which took place in the town of Gambatesa in the Italian region of Molise, apparently on August 11 and 13, 2012. It's from Riccia, which is to the west of Tufara; both towns are just north of Campania, which is just to the south of Molise. This song is called "Speranza e partì":

This is another case where I'm not very confident about claiming that this is in a dialect or whatever rather than just Standard Italian, but it doesn't sound quite like Standard Italian to me, if only because of all the schwas and a consonant cluster I hear at one point that sounds to me like it begins with [ʃ]. This song is from Cercemaggiore, another place in Molise just to the west of Riccia:
