SQL-error

Postby Hoogstwaarschijnlijk » 2020-12-03, 14:48

I can't read any posts anymore, I see:

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Out of memory; check if mysqld or some other process uses all available memory; if not, you may have to use 'ulimit' to allow mysqld to use more memory or you can add more swap space [1041]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Can someone help me out?

Have you tried refreshing the page? Sometimes, I come across this error, but if I refresh the page or click back and then forward or something, then I can see it.

Yes but it doesn't help. I can't read any of the threads in the General Section. And I am so curious what Gormur wrote, I can't stand it. It also doesn't matter what device I use.

Same for me. I can't access a lot of threads unless I log off.

I tried a thread just now and it appeared as a blank page

I have been getting that message off and on for a day or two. Sometimes refreshing the page helps, sometimes it doesn't.
Past experience says that once this starts, it gets worse, starts affecting more users and happens more frequently until whatever causes it is fixed.

I don't know which post you're referring to, but usually if you log off you can view posts as a guest, you just can't reply because you are not logged in. I don't know why the error tends to only appear for logged-in users but that tends to be the case. If you're not logged, there are parts of the site you can't access because you aren't logged in (that's a feature not a bug), but you won't tend to get the error so you can read most posts.

Huh. How odd, but it sounds like what happened earlier this year, perhaps.

Yeah, it happens like twice a year. I sent a message to proycon, usually he is able to fix it.

The message I've been getting this afternoon is this one:

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Can't find file: './unilangforum/phpbb_users.MYI' (errno: 2 "No such file or directory") [1017]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

which actually may be one I haven't seen before. But I'm also sometimes getting the same one as Hoogstwaarschijnlijk instead of that one.

Sorry guys, there was something wrong after some downtime earlier this week. I restarted the database server and things seem okay again I think.

Are others having this issue again today? I am, especially with opening threads for which I get notifications. It seems I cannot open the threads I am subscribed to, only the ones I'm not subscribed to. :silly: Or something like that. I expect that I won't be able to open any answers that appear here, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Yeah, I am still getting the error every so often. Like when I try to view the Wanderlust thread, for example.

I just gave the database server another restart, does this help somewhat?
