Welcome to the Language Subforums Management Discussion 2018 thread!

The thread title pretty much explains itself. We talk about management of Unilang subforums, ranging from titles of language subforums and possibilities to rename (and likely regroup) them to suggestions of flag additions for subforums. Got some suggestions for new name of language subforum(s)? Want a subforum to include other language families/territories? Think some threads should be put to other subforum(s)? Or anything else you want to talk about related to the subforums? Go on, speak out your thoughts here!

Title is pretty much self-explanatory.
There are more other Oceanic languages than just simply Polynesian languages, as we all know.

I say it's a good idea.

To be honest, back when that subforum was created, I was surprised it wasn't made into an Oceanic forum instead of just Polynesian.

I honestly never thought about this, but I think it makes sense to rename it since it seems to effectively be an Oceanic Languages forum anyway. It has a thread on Fijian, which is Oceanic but definitely not Polynesian...

Why? Isn't it just the Maori flag? Polynesian languages are included in Oceanian, so what's wrong with that?

I somewhat agree with admin Luís. I guess this flag should represent the subforum if it were renamed into Oceanic Languages.

While the Pacific Community does not include a few other Oceanic-speaking territories (e.g. Rapa Nui), the countries that are part of it are still the major Oceanic-speaking territories.

I personally don't see a reason that necessitates the changing of the flag, barring a native speaker's input, but I equally am ok with your flag proposal, atalarikt.

Maybe we can include Australian and Papuan languages there? They do not have a separate forum, but none of those language families is very popular, so we can group them in one forum and make it a geographical grouping rather than based on a language family.
