That's my vote as well, but OB is the native speaker.

I'm for the possibility of letting users input the languages by keyboard, without relying on the pre-existing list of languages, but I was already told in the past it's not possible.

I tried suggesting basically the same thing a few years ago myself, but to no avail.

Given that does not appear to be an option, what suggestion(s) do you have for the list?

I'd say you could as well use Cantonese for the English name, since 粤语 is already the native name. But I'm fine with both

Well, If you don't care either way, then I stick by my move to change it to Yue. :)

I think we still have no flag for Comorian language. It is easy to find the flag in internet, but I cannot insert the image here, although I am trying :roll:

EDIT:

Code: Select all

[ownflag=Comorian]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/94/Flag_of_the_Comoros.svg/125px-Flag_of_the_Comoros.svg.png[/ownflag]

EDIT2: Also:

Code: Select all

[flag=Comorian]sw-KM[/flag]

You can type anything for the tag as long as it ends with "-KM," and it'll give you the Comorian flag. You can even type "blah-KM," "fuckyouvijayareyoufuckingserious-KM," anything you want without spaces and ending with -KM. :P

[flag=]fuckyouvijayareyoufuckingserious-KM[/flag]

Code: Select all

Doesn't work...

That's because you used [flag=][/flag] without writing the name of the language (or really without writing anything) after the = (EDIT: but before the ]) to show up when you hover over the flag. If you don't want to have to also write something there, you have to use [flag][/flag] instead.

It works because KM is the code for the Comoros. You can type anything followed by a hyphen and the code for a country, and it'll give you the flag of that country.

Hey guys, I'm updating the Used Songs thread, and there's a song in FSC 68 that's listed to be in Chadian Arabic. We don't have that on the Language List. Should we add it? Or should I just use Arabic?

Does it matter that it's not on the language list, though? There have been languages in that contest that aren't on the language list for a long time already.

EDIT: I say this because I know there have been concerns about the language list becoming too big (or already being too big). Otherwise I'd be fine with adding it, I think.

I thought we already discussed this before and concluded it wasn't worth clogging up the list just for random songs in the FSC.

I looked back through the discussion, and I don't think we actually came to a conclusion tbh...

In this thread, at least, it seems we never had any discussion about whether it's necessary in general to have the languages in the FSC all represented in the language list. AFAICT, the last time anyone brought it up was in another specific case, and a decision was accordingly made for that specific case.

To clarify, I was talking about the whole idea, and not just that specific case. I can't speak for anyone else involved, however.
