I mean, it wouldn't really make sense to have a special code in the language list for the entire family (since it's for languages, not entire families), and as long as we use -CN, you get the Chinese flag anyway. :)

Yeah I never got that; so the way the code works is that you could use a flag code that doesn't exist, but as long as you add a complex code that does, it's alright?

You can write whatever you want and attach a flag code to it at the end with a hyphen, and then you'll get the flag code if you do that. Example (hover over the flag with your mouse to see what I actually wrote :P):

stuff (blahblahblahblah-CN)

So you can see what's going on in Vijay's example without needing to quote it:

Code: Select all

[flag=stuff]blahblahblahblah-CN[/flag]

Thanks, but I just had to mouse-over it. :D

To see the text yes. Not the coding, however. Not that it would have been hard to figure out, but eh. I did it anyway.

The code currently used in the Used Songs thread is qeq-GT. The ISO code is kek, but perhaps we could have 2 or 3 varieties - one with the flag of Guatemala, one with Belize, and one with Mexico?

(I used the flag of Guatemala, as suggested by vijayjohn)

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to add Qiang or not... :hmm:

Nah, I wouldn't bother if I were you. I think we're good with Qiang, at least for now.

Should Pakistani Pashto have its own flag? There are two songs in the Used Songs thread that are listed as "Pashto (Pakistan)" and have the Urdu language code. If it's a sufficiently different variety, then why not create a complex code for Afghani Pashto and Pakistani Pashto, complete with different flags?

There is no one variety of Pashto either in Pakistan or in Afghanistan as far as I know; my understanding is there are multiple varieties spoken in both. But I guess we could still do this. It might be best if we first ask Meera what she thinks, too.

Because how many dialects is it?

I mean, okay, to be fair, the same is true of basically any language, but still.
