Sure. I can agree that we don't really have to make sure there's a one-to-one correspondence between the languages in the FSC and the ones in the language list, given that the forum software allows us to just use country codes to pull up the appropriate flags.

I recall that discussion, and I also thought we came to that conclusion, or if not formally, at least the consensus seemed to lean toward not clogging up the language list. However, I was wondering about Chadian Arabic because we already have several other varieties of Arabic listed. If the FSC nomination will most likely be a one-off, then we could leave things as is: I used the general Arabic flag, but did list out Chadian Arabic.

I'm trying to practice Osage again and I'd find it useful to have a language code for translation challenges rather than using "ownflag" tags every time.

Language name: Osage
Native name[*]: Wažáže íe
Language code: osa
Flag image available here: https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/xa-osage.html

[*] Osage recently acquired an official script but it's hard to find fonts for it, so I prefer the academic transcription (based on common Siouanist conventions) found in the descriptive works of Carolyn Quintero.

It would also be nice to have one for Südbadisch, but I understand if we don't want to reopen the whole dialect question again.

So how come I can't find it there? I remembered making the request, so I loaded the page and tried searching "osa" to make sure, but it doesn't lead me to "Osage", only "Bosanski", "Na vosa Vakaviti", and "isiXhosa".

I'm not sure if this was already discussed, but is Ancient Greek supposed to cover Classical Greek (i.e., Attic Greek) and Biblical Greek (i.e., Koine Greek)?

My guess is yes, but then again we have a distinction between Latin (I assume classical Latin) and Ecclesiastical Latin....

Personally, I'd be in favor of either getting rid of Ecclesiastical Latin and leaving Greek alone, or splitting Greek into Classical and Koine Greek. (The first option being especially preferred.)

As well as Hebrew and Biblical Hebrew, plus Greek / Cypriot Greek / Katharevousa Greek / Pontic Greek.

Actually, that's right, we have Modern and Biblical Hebrew too.

Maybe we should cover all of our Biblical basics. :P

So is Ecclesiastical Latin basically the Latin of the Vulgate?

It would be enough to add only Hitu for now.

What is the native name?

Malayu Ambong.

I wonder whether the native names of the other two languages are really just Hitu and Tulehu since those are also each names of villages. :hmm:

EDIT: From this, I get the impression that the native name for both (or the closest thing there is to a native name for each) is "Sou Amana Teru."

I just wanted to mention this, but you were faster. :)

EDIT: I do not know whether your link is the same but here , there are also two other names: Bahasa Tulehu, Bahasa Uli Solemata.

EDIT 2:
Hitu is another language.
