The first sentence most probably means "I'm glad [fem.] that it turned out this way". The second one might be "Completely by chance", but I'd someone who actually speaks the language to verify my guess.

Stará mama - grandma

starý otec - grandpa


babička - grandma

dedo / dedko - grandpa

both variants are used in Slovakia

For grandma, we also use:
babka / starká / babička / ňanička...

In my area, we use starká most of the time... and little kids use ňanička :)
