Verbs
There are three types of finite verb forms:
- independent (used in positive statements)
- dependent (used for negations and questions)
- relative (used in relative clauses)
Present active:
The independent present is made with the ending "-a".
ól (to drink) > óla (drinks)
The dependent present is made with "-l" or "-el" after b, d, f, k, m, n, p, s and t.
an óll? - drinks?
kan óll - doesn't drink
na h-óll? - doesn't drink?
Past active:
The independent past is made with the ending "-av".
ólav - drank
The dependent past is made with "-ar".
an ólar? - drank?
kan ólar - didn't drink
na h-ólar? - didn't drink?
Future active:
The future is made with the ending "-oj".
óloj - will drink
an óloj? - will drink?
kan óloj - won't drink
na h-óloj? - won't drink?
The relative future is made with "-ojs".
ólojs - (that) will drink
Conditional active:
The conditional form for 2. and 3. person is made with the ending "-g" or "-eg" after b, d, f, k, m, n, p, t and v.
ólg - would drink
an ólg? - would drink?
kan ólg - wouldn't drink
na h-ólg? - wouldn't drink?
The conditional form for the 1. person singular is made with the ending "-n" or "-en" after b, d, f, k, m, n, p, s and t.
óln - I would drink
an óln? - would I drink?
kan óln - I wouldn't drink
na h-óln? - wouldn't I drink?
The conditional form for the 1. person plural is made with the ending "-mes".
ólmes - we would drink
an ólmes? - would we drink?
kan ólmes - we wouldn't drink
na h-ólmes? - wouldn't we drink?
