Pronunciation in Bulgarian

Postby AdiJapan » 2012-04-24, 17:26

Hi. I have a question regarding the pronunciation of the word езеро in Bulgarian. My assumption is that it is pronounced ['ɛzɛro]. Am I right? Are there also speakers who pronounce it ['jɛzɛro]?

Also, is the place name Eзерoвo (a village somewhere in central Bulgaria) pronounced ['ɛzɛrovo]? Again, would there also be speakers pronouncing it ['jɛzɛrovo]?

Thanks.

Yes.

No (as far as I recall no dialect adds j to word-initial е.)
