The thread at Facebook, and Tenebrarum in particular, have totally thrown me back into Vietnamese mode, which is something I thought would never really happen again! So I just couldn’t help it and decided to create myself a thread here.

Right now I really haven’t got any questions to ask, but yesterday I heard real-life Vietnamese for the first time ever! I wasn’t looking for it, though, so the choices were somewhat random, but I thought it was worth recording the event.

Okay, here's the transcript for the opening narration in that Vietnam Idol clip (yeah, that's really the name of the show - not Vietnam's Idol ), from the beginning to around 0:30

"- Nhiều tuần qua, dư luận về hiện tượng âm nhạc Idol trên toàn thế giới đã lan tỏa ở Việt Nam.
- Vòng sơ tuyển diễn ra lần lượt ở Cần Thơ, Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng và Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, thu hút hàng ngàn thí sinh ở nhiều vùng miền trong cả nước hưởng ứng nồng nhiệt.
- Tất cả mọi người dự tuyển đều có chung một khát vọng trở thành ngôi sao, và sở hữu giải thưởng duy nhất là hợp đồng thu âm rất hấp dẫn."

The hosts speak the Southern dialect, in a rather idiotically worded language.
