Yes, this album is very nice. Shadmehr is one of those few singers whose almost all songs are beautiful. He is also a great musician. He plays guitar and violin well. It's a pity he left the country.

Yeah, it seems many Iranian singers live outside Iran. Arash lives in Sweden, Ebi in Spain...

Arash - Tike Tike Kardi (Balkan Fanatics)
I thought the original was a bit dull, but I love anything that has a bit of Balkan flavor!

Zeb & Haniya - Paymaana Bete
Nice song in Pashto and Dari.

Old singers like Ebi, Moin, Homeyrâ, Leylâ Foruhar, ... migrated to West after the revolution. They couldn't sing here any longer; however, there were singers like Gugush (the best and most popular Iranian singer) who abandoned singing and remained in Iran. Gugush married a famous director and was in Iran until a few years ago when she went to Canada and since then, she is back to singing. I wish she had gone to Los Angeles like other singers and Iranians hadn't missed such a singer. Almost all pre-revolution singers migrated to West and we call them Losânjelesi (Los Angelesian) singers as most of them are in Los Angeles.

Shâdmehr had apparently some problems in getting license to issue his albums and he decided to migrate Canada. I don't think, with the shows he has played in, he can return to the country.

I don't know about Arash. He is one of those singers that I don't like. Perhaps, he belongs to the generation that has grown up in the West.

Great song Meera! There was an Iranian film from the 60s called Soltane Ghalbha, I don't know if that was the source or if the song is even older than that. Here is the version from the movie, and here is a more up-beat version sang by Aref.

Oh I don't know, but I think it is from the movie. Both of the songs sound great! Thanks for posting them :)

There are many beautiful songs in this page. Many of them are quite nostalgic for people who have grown up in Iran (like me). Even the music of Oshin, a Japanese series of my childhood, and the Australian "Against the wind", simply took me to those days.

Hey! So I've recently discovered two Iranian artists which I really like, but I'm not sure where to get their music to put on my computer. I was wondering if anybody had any they could share or recommend?

The two artists are: فرهاد مهراد (Farhad Mehrad) and اوهام (O-Hum).
I think actually, O-Hum lets you download all their music for free from their website: http://o-hum.com/
Native: Castilian (Castellano)
Fluent: English (English)
Proficient: German (Deutsch), Galician (Galego), Romania (Română)
Intermediate: Plautdietsch (Plautdietsch), Portuguese (Português), French (Français)
Currently learning: Persian (فارسی), Hungarian (Magyar), Dutch (Nederlands)
Wanting to learn: Basque (Euskara), Faroese (Føroyskt), Icelandic (Íslenska)

Hi. Here you can listen to Farhâd's albums. O-Hum (Owhâm: اوهام) seems to be a band name. Here are their albums.

Haven't posted here for a while, I've heard a few nice songs since and found a few oldies:

Tawab Arash - Kaar-e Aashiqi
I love this song! Nice beat, catchy chorus!
http://www.imeem.com/people/r7FKa2e/mus ... e_aashiqi/

Tawab Arash - Nishasta Baashi
I had to stop myself from uploading this whole album, so here is my other favorite song from it.
http://www.imeem.com/people/r7FKa2e/mus ... ta_baashi/

Mamoon - Nuqi-o Shakar
I have a soft spot for this song, reminds me of Nasrat Parsa.
http://www.imeem.com/people/r7FKa2e/mus ... io_shakar/

Some old songs now that I found recorded by a group called "Ensemble Kaboul" that released a few French CDs

Mahwash & Ensemble Kaboul - Laïli djân
Ahmad Zahir classic, I don't think there is an Afghan alive that hasn't heard the original at least once.
http://www.imeem.com/people/r7FKa2e/mus ... _lali_djn/

Mahwash & Ensemble Kaboul - Beshnaw az naï
Nice song based on a poem by Rumi-e Balkhi.
http://www.imeem.com/people/r7FKa2e/mus ... naw_az_na/

Ensemble Kaboul - Bibi sanam djân
Not sure where this song is from but it is great nontheless.

I love Ahmad zahir not only because of his voice. He sang sarcret poem of great Farsi poet. Alama Hafiz e Sharazi, Maulana Jalal udin Balkhi, the great sadhi and others.

Now a days I am love this. This makes me cry. The lyrics of this song by Qahar Asie.(R.I.P).He had great song. Most of his song were sang by Farhad Darya in his early career of singing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVJ2ViX0N6w&eurl=

Here is some part of its lyrics.
Be Aashyana gashtam. Khana ba Khana gashtam. Be tu amesha ba gham shana ba shana gashtam.

Sarzamin e man. dardman be dawa man.

Here another poem of Qahar Asie sang by Farhad darya.
