We didn't have a thread for introducing Persian fonts. OK. Now we have it :D Please introduce the Persian fonts you know for different operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux).

Here you can find the best Persian fonts, I have ever seen. My favorite is "xb zar". I recommend everybody to download it. These fonts are cross-platform, that is they can be installed on all the three operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux).

standalone Nasta'liq font

Postby alijsh » 2007-12-05, 11:53

Finally a standalone Nasta'liq font. Download it here (446 KB) and copy it to the Fonts folder of your Windows e.g C:\Windows\Fonts. I have myself tried it. It works.

From the same org providing the standalone Nasta'liq font: Neyrizi font

The style is rather dated but the good point is that it places the diacritics correctly (the first font I have ever seen).

I wonder how well you can read those Arabic writing styles: rik'a, divani, ta'lik, nesih? I am trying to learn rik'a.

Do you mean roq'a from rik'a? I had a look at it. Yes, of course. They are just styles. There is no need to learn  Roq'a seems to have been prevalent among Ottomans. Try to learn نستعلیق. Knowing that, learning the rest becomes much easier and sometimes effortlessly (just like the case of رقعه for me  ).

I have master at the history department in Mersin. I have to read and reveal the historical texts and firmans. All of them were written in roq'a. Those letters sometimes drive me crazy.

Nice job. It is very interesting and honorful (افتخارآمیز) that one can touch and study things written by the past people. If you had any problems, please ask. I should be able to help you in reading letters and words.

We have finally some standard carefully designed Persian fonts. My most favorite is Vazir. You can get it here:

https://github.com/rastikerdar/vazir-font

All the other fonts developed by Saber Rastikerdar are standard and highly recommended
