Let's play the word association game in Kurdish :)

Words from all the Kurdish dialects are valid.

Coul people write what dialect the word they used comes from?
That will help if we use this game to learn basic vocabulary (as I think most players intend).
Are the above all Kurmandji?

next word -

Pembû
(male), cotton.

Since up to now it's only been me and Limagne here, everything is in Kurmanji.

hirî / herî (f.)
wool

By the way, is anyone else surprised at how many more nouns seem to be feminine in Kurdish? I mean all nouns formed from verbs are, I think a large portion of nouns ending in -î and then most of the words that I look up on Wîkîferheng are also mê (feminine)....

"Le Kurde Facile" by Kamuran Bedirhan (which I have in Turkish, "Kolay Kürtçe"), has a list of explanations which define what words are male and which ones are female.

There is rules such as "all words for numbers are male, except the one for 'one (-> yek is female)
-all colours are male
-all metals and minerals are male
-except hirî (wool), liva (lamb wool) and lorik (a type of dairy roduct in Turkey called çökelek) all products made by hand from animals kept by people are male, as are all dairy products

There is more as for male names, and the list for female names is much longer indeed.
Cannot type out/translate everything here, but anyway there are so many exceptions to every rule, that I don't find the rules much helpful myself.

oh, and I'll have a go at playing:

fîstan
- dress, robe

The dictionary I use doesn't have genders either, but I check them on Wîkîferheng to find out the gender. Mê is feminine and nêr is masculine.
