Multi's Hindi/Urdu thread

My father is currently in India and my mother and I are planning to visit him there. Therefore I've decided to focus on Hindi.

I find Hindi a little difficult despite the fact this is not the first South Asian language I've ever studied (you may know I've previously studied Nepali between '15-'16).

Out of Urdu and Hindi, I'll be mostly focusing on Hindi. I can read a little Devanagari. Generally the double consonant letters confuse me.

I'll ask my questions here, if I happen to be active.

I'm in India since 27 May 2019, and I've spent all my day practicing Devanāgarī.

Here's my first attempt translating a sentence:
My father bought biryani from Lucknow.
मेरे पिता ने लखनऊ से बिरयानी खरीद लिया। / Mere pitā ne Lakhnū se biryānī kharīd liyā.

As per my knowledge, I think the verb should be खरीद ली, since the verb should agree with biryani which is a feminine word.

I think I'm inclined to agree.
