Urdu: Which is correct... Maaf Kijiye or Maaf Kijiye-ga?

Postby mother_tongue » 2015-12-30, 6:22

Hi there

New to the forum. Not a native Urdu speaker (English has been my only fluent language since birth) but am of sub-continental heritage and am learning the language from the ground up a bit late in life.

Down to my question. From listening to people who I consider to be "native" Urdu speakers, when I hear people saying "Please forgive me" I usually hear the phrase Maaf Kijiye (معاف کیجئے). However, I've heard some people also say Maaf Kijiye-ga (معاف کیجئے گا)

Which is correct? Are they interchangeable or do they differ, and if so, how do they differ?

I hope my question is clear.

TIA (Thanks in advance).

They are both correct and very polite, but ma'aaf kijiyegaa معاف کیجئے گا is the even more polite form between the two.
Please correct my mistakes in any language.
