I've never heard that song before, Meera, but it was great! Thanks so much for posting it!
I think I'll even hold off on posting another ghazal for now...there are only two left that I feel like I should post anyway.
(Because those are the only other ones that I know and haven't already posted here!
So this is a song I recently posted in another forum.
It's the famous song "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahaan" from CID
(1956), featuring Johnny Walker. I think I know (almost) the whole song by heart:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3oW4PZ7F4I
Aaaand, the rest of the songs in this post are just songs composed by Salil Chowdhury whose tunes I'm familiar with because he composed Malayalam songs with these tunes, too. I've listed them in chronological order.
The first is "Baag Mein Kali Khili" from Chand aur Suraj
(1965), sung by Asha Bhosle. Salilda seemed a little obsessed with this tune because he used it in two songs in the Malayalam movie Chemmeen
Then there's "Mere Nayanaa Paakhi Bechaare" from Pinjre Ke Panchhi
(1966), sung by Lata Mangeshkar:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6tWBUn-CxU
And "Raaton ke Saaye" from Annadata
(1972), also sung by Lata Mangeshkar:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJz2mCcXe7E
A pretty much completely forgotten movie also came out the same year called Sabse Bada Sukh
. "Chal Chal Chal Re" is the title song of that movie, playing during the opening credits. According to this guy who has this whole website devoted to Salilda, that song is the only good thing about the whole movie.
So here it is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHaDB-GKz5A
There's also "Maujon Ki Doli" from Jeevan Jyoti
(1976), sung by Kishore Kumar, sounds...more triumphant or whatever than the Malayalam version. The Malayalam version is more like a plaintive song of a widow:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtNcdpKnnYA
"Teri Galiyon Mein Hum Aaye" from Minoo
(1977), sung by Antara Chowdhury and Manna Dey, looks a lot more touching than the Malayalam version at least to me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTkx3RxDVRE
Did he just call a girl at the beginning of that video बेटा/بیٹا though?
And finally, there's this song with kind of an eerie tune.
It's "O mere saathi re" from Akhiri Badla
(1989), which is actually the Hindi dubbed version of a Bengali movie that was much older but ended up being released only after the Hindi version.
It's sung by Kishore and Lata:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIQ92N00PuA
