This is always done with the oblique pronouns, which have long and short forms:
Me / To me - Mujhe / Mujh ko
You / To you- Tujhe / Tujh ko
Him, her it / To him, her, it - Isse / Is ko (near)
Him, her, it / To him, her, it - Usse / Us ko (far)
Us - To us - Humeṅ / Hum ko
You - To you - Tumeṅ / Tum ko
You - To you- Āp ko
Them / To them - Inheṅ - In ko (near)
Them / To them - Unheṅ - Un ko (far)
You can also say (which seems a lot more logical to me): Ye gāna mujhe acha lagta hai, lagna is used a lot in compound verbs with different meanings, but in this sentence I guess you could describe it as 'to seem good', but with the strength of 'to like' in English.

If I understand correctly, mujhe is "me" in the dative/accusative case (ie "to me"), and mujh ko is more strictly dative, right? (Or can mujh ko also be accusative?) What's further confusing to me is when you would use one form over another. Do certain verbs require either mujhe or mujh ko, or is it more a matter of individual preference? For instance, I know "I have to go" as mujhe jana hai. Would mujh ko jana hai also be acceptable, and if so, is the meaning identical or different? I imagine that the short form is more colloquial and the long form more literary, but that's just a guess.
Finally, how do you distinguish usse (to it) from us se (from it)? Is there a significant pause in the second one to help you tell them apart?

Oh my God! So I watched Billu Barber on the ten-hour flight from Europe to Colorado and FELL IN LOVE with the film (I had also seen Jodhaa Akbar in Saudi a few days earlier... mā shāʾ allāh!)
As a direct result, this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7KqL50n1uo is now my latest obsessive song (my boyfriend can attest!)
