Hi there,

In Hindi, is the word for 'fingers' and the word for 'toes' the same? And what is it?

Thanks!

Yes. It is almost the same, it's known as Angutha.

Hand - Haath(Hand) ka Angutha
Feet- Pair (Leg) ka Angutha"

Thank you. And is this the correct spelling (of the plural, i.e. fingerS): अंगुलियाँ ?

The word for finger and toe is the same: उँगली/उंगली (ungli). If you need to be specific, finger is हाथ की उँगली (haath ki ungli), and toe is पैर/पाँव की उँगली (pair/paanw ki ungli). The plural (fingers, toes) has two forms: direct and oblique. The direct plural is उँगलियाँ (ungliyaan) and the oblique plural is उँगलियों (ungliyon).

अँगुली/अंगुली anguli (direct plural: अँगुलियाँ anguliyaan, oblique plural: अँगुलियों anguliyon) is an alternative and lesser used variant of उँगली.

The word for thumb and big toe is अँगूठा/अंगूठा angootha (direct plural: अँगूठे angoothe, oblique plural: अँगूठों angoothon). It doesn’t refer to other fingers and toes.
