Help with lyrics (probably Swedish)

Postby PtrTlr » 2018-04-10, 12:37

Hello! May I ask for the lyrics of this short song (34 seconds): https://soundcloud.com/big-cake-games/a ... er-version. It was composed for a video game by what I suspect is a Swedish game developer. Thank you in advance.

It is not Modern Swedish, that much I can tell.

The song is highly stylized, which makes things hard to make out. In any case, my guess is Old Swedish or even Old Norse. Or maybe even Old English.

Maybe you can ask the developers of the game?
Swedish (sv) native; English (en) good; Norwegian (no) read fluently, understand well, speak badly; Danish (dk) read fluently, understand badly, can't speak; Faroese (fo) read some, understand a bit, speak a few sentences; German (de) French (fr) Spanish (es) forgetting; heritage language.

Norwegian?

"Jeg legges i min vugge nu
Stundom greder, stundom ler
Min moder har for meg omhug,
Jesus bevare barnet"

Here's a longer song: https://lyricstranslate.com/hu/pernille ... yrics.html

Norwegian?

It seems like they took the Norwegian text and added some strage sounds to make it sound more norse?

If it's Norwegian and sounds kind of strange, it's a good bet that it's a dialect rather than anything more standard.

Dialects are still the most common means of spoken communication in Norway, and it translates into music as well.
Swedish (sv) native; English (en) good; Norwegian (no) read fluently, understand well, speak badly; Danish (dk) read fluently, understand badly, can't speak; Faroese (fo) read some, understand a bit, speak a few sentences; German (de) French (fr) Spanish (es) forgetting; heritage language.
