Lithuanian Chat Channel?

Postby Abavagada » 2006-05-21, 15:10

Would anyone be interested in a Lithuanian chat channel on our server (irc.unilang.org)? We already have channels set up for other languages. If so, what should it be called, and who would like to be in charge of it (founder).

Such a channel would be a place for people to practice Lithuanian and discuss Lithuanian stuff outside of the main #unilang channel.

I second that - An audio one would be cool for English people to practice pronounciation.

GO FOR IT PEOPLE! :D

Count me out.

But anyway, what about the UTF-8 support?
No point in discussing otherwise...

Plus, the name would obviously be #lithuania or #lithuanian huh?

First, the IRC Chat is for typing, not voice.
Our IRC server IS designed to handle UTF-8, as long as you use a client that can handle it (NOT mIRC or Pirch). We have a chat interface that can allow people to use UTF-8.

Second, we do have a Voice Chat server, via "TeamSpeak2". We can also make a channel there.

The creation of these channels doesn't mean everyone HAS to use them, so you don't have to declare yourself as "out".

I know I don't.

I simply wanted to strech out that I would not be going to take a part in the organisation (or channel moderation rather) and leave it to depend on others.
Plus, how come mIRC does not support UTF-8? I thought it does already.

Anyway.

I've now created #Lithuanian on the chat server (irc.unilang.org). Onelung was on, so I invited him in and made him an op.

I am also going to build a page on the wiki for this channel, where we can post information about the channel, the "regulars", basic chat terms and phrases, schedule any particular "chat times", etc.

Everyone is encouraged to join, contribute, and enjoy.
