Hungarian video games?

Postby Lauren » 2013-01-17, 0:37

Hey everyone! As some of you may know, I'm a sucker for games translated into other languages. :D

Hungarian is becoming more and more used for video game translations, with official translations for big-name games such as The Witcher 1 and 2, Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and some smaller ones like Perpetuum, and fan translations such as Grim Fandango.

There is (or sued to be) a large site with a ton of fan translations into Hungarian, but unfortunately, I cannot find it anymore.

Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about and could find a link for me? I'm sure it would be much easier to find if I knew some Hungarian, which I'm thinking of learning. :)

EDIT: I found a site with a lot of translations, but I don't think it was the one I saw a couple years ago, unless they changed the look of it. But this site has a ton, so I'm happy. :D

I'm not at home in this field of gaming, since I have never used this sort of translations for quite obvious reasons. Videos games taught me a great deal of English and I never felt the necessity to use translations.
I guess you already found what you were looking for - but keep in mind that these are fan-made translations and may contain some mistakes and word-for-word translations.
Nowadays you can found official translations of the games and with dubbing. For example Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow: (sounds ridiculous in my opion, but I am partial on this, because for me Michael Ironside is Sam Fisher)
Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway: , (some of the sentences sound not really correct to me)
All in all I have a hunch that dubbing is so far in its infancy in Hungary as far as video games go.
So is a good place to start with, since I doubt you'll find the official dubbed versions of the games on the internet.

Heel hartelijk bedankt voor elke hulp!
Ich bin für jede Verbesserung dankbar.
