MagyarRock

Ive always been frustrated by the unavailability of Hungarian music(sung in hungarian) outside of Hungary with the exception of folk bands like Muszikas.Im a big fan of Bonanza Banzai and Fuck/Off System(Hungarian goth rock 8) ), neither of which are available overseas. Is it because hungarian is considered such an obscure language that nobody would want to listen to music in hungarian? :( IMHO, hungarian is an Exceedingly musical language and is a country with very good taste in music.

Wow, good to hear this last sentence. Thank you.
There are only a few languages which the music market considers to be worth listening to. Hungarian is not part of them. Actually it is true we don't hear either many Slovak, Serbian or Romanian songs though they are in the neighbourhood.

Well if it's not English or occasionally Spanish, I don't really know which music is easily available worldwide...

Plus, I feel that this is one of the cases when downloading is (more) justifiable... I have quite a lot of Bonanza Banzai stuff, some of which I bought when I was there, some found online and some that I was given by a friend who spent more time in Hungary than me. 8)

I found a very good hungarian band recently, called Edda művek. An old band, I think from 80's. With them I learnt how to pronounce hungarian letters. Actually, it was the first time I heard hungarian language :) I must say that the Hungarians have really good songs :D And I heard for Omega too. Can you tell me for some other bands, which you like? :)

How could such a topic sank in this forum... :(

Lalaith, and all those interested: the internet is a good source, indeed, for music in languages other than English.

You can hear lots of Hungarian music on Szent Korona Rádió (Radio 'Sacred Crown'). Go to this page: http://szentkoronaradio.com/hallgatas - it's all written in Hungarian, but all you have to do is click on the well-known Winamp or WMP icons to start streaming the radio.
And if there's music on, they always show the "band+song title" on the display bar. So you don't have to "investigate" when you hear a song you like.

Generally, it's just the same in Hungary as probably everywhere else on the globe: most of the time you just have to listen to the mindless American or Americanised "pop" crap on each and every radio and TV station...
