Can you tell me about any music sung in Hungarian? The more current, and the more popular the better, as I'm guessing I'll have a heck of a hard time finding it :D :) I'm not picky when it comes to style, so whatever you like 8)

May the Google be with you!
Anyway, you can find from other topics, there are lots of links! Although everything, i'll recommend you to watch and listen songs from "youtube".

www.youtube.com

search "hungarian music" or "hungarian idol 2006".
I recommend the second one.

searching through a million threads is irritating. I tried. And youtube struggles with my current connection problems. And I did google (I keep getting sites IN hungarian or I keep getting hungarians who sing in english) and it was making me angry so I came here as a final attempt.

I'm quite fond of the Hungarian band NOX, they're a modern pop/folk band. They performed the song „Forogj, világ“ in the 2005 Kiev Eurovision Contest.

http://www.nox.hu/ << their website, if you go in and look at their individual albums you can listen to some of their songs.

LGT

1. Értünk egymás nyelvén, minden szó beszél,
Mégis másképp érted, mint ahogyan én.
Más a szó, ha mondod, más ha hallgatod,
Nem tudná a bal kéz, mit akar a jobb.

2. Én tudom a dallamot, te tudod a szót

3. Érzem, amit érzel, látom, amit látsz,
Mégis másképp mondom, mit amit te vársz,
Gondolhatok bármit, előbb mondod ki,
Megbotlok egy kőben, s te fogsz elesni.

5. Szóból vannak hidak két ember között,
Csend lobbantja őket a fejetek fölött,
Mindenki mást érez minden szó mögött,
Ami nekem kéne, azt te nem tűröd.

Can someone recommend some good Hungarian music to listen to? I think my Hungarian is good enough to where I can improve by reading alone. (i'm referring to fluency here and reading speed/comfort only)

I am a very active person so some music that I like 1. music that makes you dance (i.e. hip hop/breakdance music) (i’m NOT really that much into rap because of the absurd meaningless lyrics) 2. music that has A LOT of feeling and by this I mean music in which the singer really gets into and gives it their all (i.e. african american gospel) 3. music similar to 80’s/90’s love songs (i.e. earth wind and fire, luther vandross, etc.)

Hopefully you list songs that I can find on the internet and sample. Thanks! I can upload any songs of mine if you’re not familiar with any of the artists above. :)

The only songs I liked from the ones you posted were "Nem adom fel" and "Áj láv jú" by Rapülők. I guess it's because I don't like rock music. I hope you can post more like the two songs above. Those two were kinda fun. thank you!

Most múlik pontosan - an easier one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1voW_td ... re=related

Sehol se talállak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bFhpr5N ... re=related

Or maybe Edda... Háromszor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqbH66J4kuc

You may try listen to more Quimby's songs since you don't like rock, they're pretty good, at least to me ^^

Lots of songs from TransylMania are passionate ones. Elpártolt liliomszál is a nice example (though the lyrics are symbolic as the song is based on a poem - "A Lily That Has Forsaken Us"). They play etno-rock (or folk-rock, whatever), so you might not like them altogether.

But if you liked Rapülők, then here's some similar classics from the "electronic realms":

Animal Cannibals: Takarítónő (Housekeeper Lady)

Animal Cannibals: Mindenki azt akarja (Everybody Wants [to do] That)

Sub Bass Monster: 4 ütem (4 Strokes [of the Engine])

Sub Bass Monster: Gyulafirátót [it's a funny song+clip about his village, Gyulafirátót]

Animal Cannibals & Sub Bass Monster: É. J.

Or here's this gangxta brutal sh*t from the war of the hip-hop bands and verses, if you like :D
T. K. O. - Nesztek! (Here you go!)

+1. I like this band, and she is the singer who appeared in the "Mindenki azt akarja" video above:
Unique: Képzeld el (Imagine)

I thought these two were ok:

Animal Cannibals: Takarítónő (Housekeeper Lady)
Sub Bass Monster: Gyulafirátót

I don't know to what extent you speak our language, but I remember when I didn't understand most of the lyrics of songs in English, I had a totally different taste, since I judged all songs by the melody.
Later, when my English got better, I started to loose interest in certain songs I liked before and got to like others which hadn't been interesting before.
Most songs posted in this topic have some strong society-critics or have something to say in the lyrics (other than love and depression).

And some of the lyrics are confusing enough for a native. :)

that's a good point. i am totally judging all the songs based on their melody/rhythm only. hmm, guess that's my only option at this point but i guess i should re-evaluate the other songs as my ability gets better. :)
