Is there a mistake in this sentence

Postby Tobias » 2020-12-07, 22:15

I got this sentence: qui solus honestus et familia amicitia vivere can.
I translate: only who lives honest and in friendship with the family can live.
My Problem is: familia amicitia both have the same ending.
Is there a predicate missing? Shouldn't it be a question because of qui?
Please correct my mistakes - auch in Deutsch.

"amicitia" and "familia" stand in the ablative case where the preposition "cum" is not written. Maybe that's also the case with "in". Then "familia amicitia" (or "cum familia in amicitia") means "in friendship with the family". I think you translated it correctly.

There's a mistake in the Latin: "can" is not Latin at all. Was this Google translated to Latin first?

Also, qui is a relative pronoun, not an interrogative. It's the type of who in "He who is wise" and *not* "Who is wise?" Two different uses for who in English!
