If you want to understand Indonesian soap operas you'll need to learn everyday colloquial speech.
Owing to Javanization, modern Indonesian is highly diglossic (even in Bali people watch Jakarta-made soap operas on Kompas TV and they're not in the H register, but in the L).

This book I have a copy of right here in my room teaches Balinese through English but has all the vocabulary and dialogs translated into both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
