"Stevnemøte" is giving me a bit of a problem. It seems to translate to "meeting meeting" lierally. That's certainly not correct.

Thank you Mari. The word is used in today's web Aftenposten article on dating in Great Britain. In fact, the article implies the usage is archaic.

I'll call it an archaic noun and put it in my dictionary.

Incidentally, the word "en date" is much more common these days, or simply "date" even if it's in the definite form.

"Jeg skulle på date med Grete i går, men daten ble avlyst."

The pronunciation's the same as in English.
