The difference with minority languages is that in this case the intention is not to bring Esperanto into use as a widely-used vernacular. In the case of minority languages, if they're new speakers often they have a reconquest of the historical language territory in mind.

(Not that I have anzthing against Esperanto being spoken at home, it's normal if it's the common language of the parents, although it'd be a bit weird speaking it directly to the children)
