Ho bisogno di una traduzione!

Postby Car » 2010-04-06, 16:37

Ciao a tutti!

I'd like to have these sentences translated:
1) Do you need to be an Italian citizen?
2) Do I need to give you my personal data?
(this is referring to
# COPIA DI UN DOCUMENTO D'IDENTITA' IN CORSO DI VALIDITA'
# COPIA DEL CODICE FISCALE
# RECAPITO TELEFONICO )
3) How should I tell you which packages I want?

I want to write this to a professional seller at ebay.it, how would I address and greet that shop?

Grazie mille!

Gentile [seller's name],
vorrei chiederLe alcuni chiarimenti sulla vendita.

1) È necessario essere cittadini italiani?
2) È necessario che Le invii i miei dati personali? (copia di un documento, ..., recapito telefonico)
3) Come posso indicarLe i pacchi che voglio?

La ringrazio per l'attenzione.

Cordiali saluti,
[your name]

Is that ok?

Thank you very much!

I already found someone to translate those sentences for me (although with some mistakes in it) - there wasn't too much time left anymore. I should have posted that here, sorry about the unnecessary work!

I was able to do the rest of the translations with the help of someone else and if the last question is cleared, everything should be sent to me soon, I hope.

BTW, is it normal for a seller/ shop to address a (potential) buyer informally? He switched to "ciao" + "tu" and first names pretty soon. I was surprised how informal it was.

Again, thank you!

Depends. Is the customer a fairly old person (at least, say, 35)? I've had plenty of baristas and shopkeepers address me with tu (I'm 23), and saying "ciao" is very common, even among strangers, though the vast majority of the time you'll still be greeted with "buongiorno."
Most men are rather stupid, and most of those who are not stupid are, consequently, rather vain.

You're welcome!

On eBay many sellers tend to use the informal form.

Where in Italy? Here in Torino many people address me formally, even if I'm 19 and I look like 16.

Thank you!

He's from the region of Palermo, if that matters then. I was just surprised how informal it got, but I saw this as a positive sign, is it not? Well, one final step away from paying the rest of it.

As long as he seems a reputable seller, that's good. I've discussed with several sellers informally, as well.

Part of it might be just because it's over the internet, I've noticed that people tend to be much more informal on the internet than they would be in real life.
Una parte potrebbe essere perch'è online. Ho notato che gente tenda ad essere più informale online di sarebbero nella realtà. (Solo voglio provare l'italiano, questo passaggio ha molti verbi complessi!)

Dipende dalle circostanze e dalle persone; a volte succede proprio l'opposto.

Various cities in Northern Italy.

:hmm: This is in contrast with my theory that in northern Italy they address all people formally.

Maybe the northerners know more.

After everything was cleared and paid, my package was sent on the 14th. It arrived today, but I'm currently not at home. That's why I'd love to have these sentences translated:

I've received your package today, but I'm currently not at home. I'll e-mail you when I've set everything up.

Thank you for your help!

He still needs to do something for me then, so I'd like to let him know that I did receive it (which he wanted to hear), but can't do it yet.

Ho ricevuto il tuo pacco oggi, ma ora non sono a casa. Ti manderò un'email quando avrò provato tutto.

(if you mean after you checked that everything is working)
