This phrase does not seem very widespread... have you heard it somewhere? I would have used "kellegi soosingut võitma", but it's not as colourful.

Indeed, this phrase doesn't make much sense at all.

Also possible: "kellegi silmis heasse nimekirja saama"
Eesti keel (et) native, English (en) I can manage, Suomi (fi) trying to learn, Pусский (ru)&Deutsch (de) unfortunately, slowly fading away

Oh... :doggy: I wasn't familiar with the figurative meaning of the English expression, so I translated it literally. I was thinking the context was something like "he really wants to read those great books she has." A bit odd, but I thought "okay, whatever...into good books should be headesse raamatutesse I guess..." I should have googled the English phrase, but it just didn't occur to me that it would be an idiom I didn't know of. So all I could do was translate it literally. Thanks to your translations, now I understand what you meant, and it makes sense.

Sügaval sisimas on tal kullast süda.

Although, the way I imagine this sentence could be used in English, I think "Tegelikult on tal kullast süda." should also fit.
