Ma ei saa leida "shut away" sõnaraamatus. Saad mulle öelda, kuidas see on eesti keeles?

Mina pakuksin veel "oma garaaži sulgununa / sulgununa oma garaaži" või "olles oma garaaži sulgunud / olles sulgunud oma garaaži", kui ta pani ennast sinna ise kinni.

Või "oma garaaži suletuna / suletuna oma garaaži" või "olles oma garaaži suletud / olles suletud oma garaaži", kui seda tegi keegi teine.

Why "masinat"? I would have said "ta ehitas masina," (genitive for total object?), but I'm forever mixing up partial and total objects and their cases....

Yes!

"ta ehitas masina" = (s)he built (a/the) machine
"ta ehitas masinat" = (s)he was building (a/the) machine (or even (s)he was building [some] machine if you take the partialness or vagueness of the object into consideration)

But here I would call it accusative rather than genitive. Accusative can look like either genitive or nominative in different contexts.

I have also heard "Õhus on tunda kevadet." (or "Õhus on kevadet tunda.") if you want to use "õhk" in the sentence.
