I understood what you meant lol. I think it's ridiculous there's allowed to be entries in languages other than the official languages for each country as it is, meaning all of Estonia's entries should be in Estonian :) (Estonian > English)

We had today this ugly anniversary of deportations to Siberia in 1941. Thousands of Estonians were sent away just because they were not Russians nor commies. A symbolic punk song by Villu Tamme and JMKE: Külmale Maale (To the Cold Land): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X12HZYXZYpI

Lyrics:

Punalipud lehvivad
Tribüünil Gorba lehvitab
Rahvas vaatab imestab
Mis see Gorba naeratab
Aga Gorbal on üks plaan
Siis kui lõpeb see paraad
Perestroika otsa saab

R: Ja meie kõik sõidame külmale maale
Vagunites laulame hümni kodumaale
Külmale maale

Saab riigikeeleks vene keel
Ja keskuseks saab "Dvigatel"
Ja Väljasest saab dissident
Ja Koganist saab president
Ja sitamaja taga maas
Lamab Edgar Savisaar
Põiki Marju Lauristini peal

R:

Kord jälle tapivagunis saab eesti rahvas sõita
Ei ole miskit kaotada kuid paljugi on võita
Me püsti lööme linna seal mis varjab silmapiiri
Ja ehitame Siberis me üles Eesti riigi

Could someone write the lyrics to this and this song? The Lion King has always been my favorite animated movie, and it seems like it was recently made available on YouTube. Or at least the songs were :)

I have always found it really difficult to follow the lines of (animated)movies, which have been dubbed into Estonian...
But I'll do my best.

Here's the first one, I hope I've got most of it correctly:

  • Pfff... tead, mis ma ütlen sulle Pumbaa? Siin lõhnab pahasti.
  • Oooh... vabandust...
  • Mitte sina, nemad: tema ja temake - kahekesi.
  • Mis selles halba on?
  • Kas taipad, mis siin toimub?
  • Mida?
  • Nad ise ju ei tea.
  • Kes?
  • Et õhus arm ning asi karm näib, meist kolmest kaks saab pea.
  • Vau!
  • (Õhtune? :? ) videviku embus ja võluv lembekeel,
see mõttetu romanss siit puudus veel, nüüd katastroof on teel.
  • Arm on õhus õhtu eel, öö hingerahu toob.
  • Ja kui ta peaks nüüd armuma, juba aiman ma...
  • ...et meie sõprus muutub ajalooks...
  • ...me jääme üksinda. (cry)

The other one follows as soon as (if) I get it deciphered.

Thanks! And it's great seeing that even Estonian natives have problems understanding it sometimes

You are welcome!

Well... not just sometimes - most of the time.
I don't know what are they doing wrong when they dub (animated)movies into Estonian, but for some reason it's usually more difficult to understand than the English version (or maybe just it doesn't bother me if I can't catch or understand all the words in English, but if it's Estonian, then there has to be something wrong...).

Maybe it's also because of the limitations: they have limited timeframe to say some things (lip movement & voice should match) and they have to say really specific things which may not have a good way of saying it in Estonian. Especially the songs, where the soundtrack and the lyrics in another language already exist and then they have to fit in the Estonian version there, somehow...

Anyway, here's the other one - this one was a real nightmare...

  • ...kuningas?
  • Minu arust küll mitte...
Must võimas kuningas kord saab, kõik loomad hoidke eest.
  • Oi, sa oled alles lakata - vaid lakast tunned meest.
  • Kuid ega ma ei varjagi - ma nägus peremees,
sest harjan turja karvasid ning proovimöirgeid teen.
  • Häh, sa oled kas tobe või (näid suurusehullunud :? / täis suurusehullumust :? )
    ...aaaaaaaaah.
  • Oo-oo...ükspäev, kas näed - olen kunn...
  • Sul on veel pikk tee käia, noorhärra.
    Kui sa arvad...
  • Keegi ei keela.
  • ...kui ma seda ütlesin...
  • Keegi ei piina.
  • ...pidasin silmas seda, et...
  • Keegi ei piina.
  • ...põp...millest sa aru ei saa?
  • Keegi ei piina.
  • Pea nüüd kinni!
  • Keelud-käsud, need ei loe,...
  • No see nüüd küll ei sobi.
  • ...kord teen kõike omal moel.
  • Ma loodan, peagi laheneb me noka-moka laat.
  • Nõuandeid jäta vahele, sa must aristokraat :?
  • Monarhial, kui... :? ... ei mina kaasa tee!
Ma... :? ...Aafrikast ning leian teise tee.
See laps on suisa võimu järgi hull.
  • Oo-oo...ükspäev kas näed - olen kunn...

    Vasakule vaata! Paremale vaata!
    Kõikjale, kus vaatad, minust... :?
  • Mitte veel!
  • (chorus: can't understand any of these sentences fully) :?
  • Oo-oi...ükspäev, kas näed - olen kunn...
Oo-oi...ükspäev, kas näed - olen kunn...
Oo-oi...ükspäev, kas näed - olen kunn...

No problem!

I listened through the Norwegian ones too. Sounds awesome - although I can't understand a word of Norwegian

Hei. :D

A lullaby in Livonian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry5aZnlYTOY
Tulli lum - Eijõ

Livonian is a version of Estonian and Tulli lum -> Tuline lumi -> Hot snow. eijõ-eijõ -> äiu-äiu
One can also replace tuline as tulli (pronounced as tulьlьi) in modern Estonian when speaking to children.

Unfortunately I can't translate the song.
