Õpi eesti keel ära! (Learn Estonian! nominative)

Tänan väga!
My problem is that I haven't got any Estonian grammar book, so I have to find one to learn the grammar properly. I am not a grammar expert, but it seems to me the partitive case indicates uncertainty, and the action can be without any result. The genitive is used to indicate that the action is completed.

Yes, that's megtanulni (when something's learnt). Do you speak Hungarian?

Also, I found some stuff by Stellah. She does very dancy type upbeat music. Not pop though. Theres a few mp3 Here.

Another group I found by the name of Quattro. It's again quite dancy/popy. Find some mp3 here

PS: You can tell I don't use youtube for music :P

You made a good job again. :D Although I don't like this kind of music, but Quattro's got closer to my taste. Previous week I heard a song on an Estonian radio(http://vikerraadio.err.ee/). It was Minu vein by Eda-Ines Etti (or well known as her stage name Ines). Her music is kind of pop/rock, plus she's beautiful too. :D some links: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7uvsa_ines-minu-vein_music , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEnN2ntv5io

Just some basics, not worth of mentioning.

Aaaah... never heard about those, must be very marginal.

Btw, for those stupid copyright reasons they've removed all the best of Estonian music from YouTube.

I know this thread is old, but I find that Estonian has some of the best pop/dance music I've ever heard. :D So since you said that's what you like to listen to, I'm going to post some anyway. Whether you ever see my list or not, it's okay.

I'll list some groups and recommended songs, you can probably plug them into YouTube or something and hear samples of their music:

Släm: "Sul on kõige kaunim kann", "Mul on jumala pohhui", "Ei saa mind"
Laura: "Lihtsad asjad"
HU?/Hannaliisa Uusmaa: "Sa meeldid mulle", "Türisalu pank"
Lenna Kuurmaa: "Loomeinimesed"
Caater: "Mis tegema nüüd pean", "Meeletu öö", "Sellel ööl"
Cherryland: "Loomulik blondiin", "Draama kuninganna", "Lummatud meel"
Niki: "Las ma tulen sulle kulla", "Liisa"
Hylene: "Unes või ilmsi"
Click OK: "Öö on kuum" (it's old school girly rap, but it's sooo catchy)
Dynamint: "Bemarivend", "Sinust vaba", "Klubi paradiis"
Mari-liis: "Kellegi jaoks", "Suve saladus", "Vajangi vaid sind"
Vanilla Ninja: "Vanad teksad ja kitarr" (they do more rock-style and mostly English, but I love them to death)

I could recommend about a hundred more if my Estonian music collection wasn't trapped on my other hard drive. But those are my favorites.

Yeah, Vanilla Ninja definitely rule - love them too :yep: ... but it's sad that they haven't got new songs.
And my favourite Lenna's song is Saatus Naerdes Homse Toob (soundtrack to "Kuhu Põgenevad Hinged" movie).

Nice song. I loved Lenna Kuurmaa the best on those videos she was singing at the Laulupidu.

I lived one year in Estonia but I must admit that I was a bit disappointed because I didn't hear or find a music that I fell in love with.
Until I heard Vennaskond. I like it much. And when I discovered all the atmosphere and history around the band, it made me like it even more.

("Ma elasin uks aasta Eestis aga vain Vennaskond mulle meeldib" would be my finno-ugric way to say it in Estonia ;)

benoit,
Did you too always have the "luck" to fall into places where you had to listen to Meie Mees songs? :D

Also, there is a guy, who is kind of chasing us. In a local pub, he was playing the worst kind of music, at least for our Hungarian taste, while Estonians wanted to dance with us from the beginning already.
Later, we went to Pärnu, got into a smaller party and the same guy was playing the same awful songs, and Estonians around us "Ahh, let's go dancing! Hey, invite her to dance with you, this is just the right song." And the music was just what we laugh at at home.
Otherwise, there are good bands and good songs here too, like Terminaator or Smilers.

I love Estonian music! Of course, I only understand a handful of words (and usually they're false cognates anyway) but I can appreciate the music without understanding it. I'll have to look up some of these bands later, but here are some songs that Hashi's shown me, in Estonian:

[Suomeksi, koska en voi puhua viroa] Mä rakastan musiikki viroksi! Tietysti, ymmärrän vain vähän (ja tavallisesti he ovat väärät ystävät) mutta mä voin pitää musiikkista ymmärrysttä sitä. Minun on etsiä nämä bändiä myöhemmin, mutta tämä lauluja että Hashi on osoittanut minulle, viroksi:

Code One - On Küll Hilja
Tanel Padar & Ines - Legend
Ummamuudu Kõnõtraat (Okay, it's Võro, but listen anyway)
