Are the Defense Language Institute's Gan Language Survival Kits accurate? I was interested in learning this language, but this was the only resource I found, so I wanted to verify the accuracy; it sounded more like Sichuanese to me. I also thought that Gan would have its own words that differ from Mandarin, but I found that most of the things were the same.

I have no idea, since I don't believe I have access to the Gan Language Survival Kits, but Gan definitely has words that sound different from Mandarin! However, from what I understand, it is also closer to Mandarin than many other Sinitic varieties/varieties of Chinese.
