The Political Compass (again)

Postby senatortombstone » 2005-07-06, 18:53

http://www.politicalcompass.org/

Hello,

I just took the politcal compass and my score is

Economic Left/Right: 9.13

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 4.62

I know we have a topic on this way back, but the politcal compass updates the test every now and then, so I encourage you to take it over again.

I also implore you not to post the link to the old topic on this subject. Let's start fresh and anew!

Economic Left/Right: -6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.49

it's closer to the last time I took the test:
Economic Left/Right: -6.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03
if I was President,
I'd get elected on Friday
assassinated on Saturday
buried on Sunday

I hurried thru the test, so I'm going to take it again later, since I believe I'm considerably more left-wing than that

I only ticked the answers that made common sense, advocating beliefs in economic freedom and common decency.

I've noticed that according to Stancel's graph, that most people here who have taken the test, believe in a great deal of personal libery, but not economic freedom.

I should post each question and see what all the different responses are.

I remembered being near to Ghandi expected results and I am still there... good for my anarchic mood.

Still, I believe that the results from this test are not too significant since it is almost absurd that we have more than 90% of the population in the left anarchic side... I believe that if we move the [0;0] to [-3;-3] or [-4;-4] we should get a different picture, even maybe more realistic.

Does anybody who is near to the middle in reality do vote for left wing parties? Could be interesting to know...

And I don't find socialism, a system that forcibly takes the rightful earnings of the productive and gives them to others, a free system.

Capitalism gives me my paycheck, socialism steals them.

You're 16 Stancel, someday when you actually earn your own money and see at least a fourth taken out every week, you may think differently.

Give it some time.

You have to realize that right now most societies are supported by the top wage earners. I believe that in the US the top 5% wage earners contribute about 96% federal taxes. If you keep taking their money from them, what incentive will they have to keep earning it?

I, for instance, have the opportunity to earn overtime at my job, but why should I when the government taxes my overtime wages at nearly 50%? I make no more per hour (net income) when I work overtime than when I work regular hours.

The government is killing the incentive for me to work harder.

LOL Ego, I wonder the same myself sometimes.

Anyway, I loved the political compass, and I took it earlier in 2004 but I'll gladly take it again. Let's see what I got:

Economic Left/Right: -1.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.72

So essentially I'm a more centrist member of the libertarian left and am closest to Gandhi. lol To modern political figures, it seems I actually am closer to people like Gerhard Schröder and Paul Martin, who are in the Authoritarian Right, but very very close to the center, than the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela, who are way to the left and bottom of the Libertarian Left.

Anyway I always thought this thing was good. 8)

My political compass

Economic Left/Right: -4.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.44

Compared to a year ago, I seem to have moved a little toward the authoritarian left.
