I'm asking you how you assign gender to people who lack certain secondary sexual characteristics.

Not to mention that mammary glands aren't sex specific. Sure, in the male sex, they're usually inactive, and IIRC what they produce when they aren't isn't exactly identical to milk, but not far off either.

I thought that's what LGBT did. :hmm:

By the way, I actually had to look up the title LGBTQA+ since i hadn't seen it before this thread. Maybe i'm slow but i still don't get what the plus sign means here :)

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.

It's meant to represent the fact that there are other identities which are included in the grouping but not represented by a distinct letter (such as intersex, demisexual, two-spirit, nonbinary, etc).

A lot of us don't really subscribe to labels. Is it meant to include us, too?

If you don't identify as any of the specific letters, but want to be included, then absolutely.
It's why I prefer the term with the +.

Well I support LGBT but I don't associate myself with it. It's a political movement, which is cool but I have a hard time associating it with anything sexual

A broken clock is right twice a day, at least partially.

There is a tendency in what is the LGBTQ+ movement broadly defined, to de-sexualise sexuality. I was involved in the organisation of a queer festival in Cyprus for a number of years, and I remember there was some resistance to proposed topics such as female sexual health, gay men's sexual health, and sex and disability. Those are topics I would love to hear people talk about, but the festival mostly kept an academic/theoretical focus.

I would love to hear more about that too.

It's not just about what is applicable to yourself, but in general, and knowing these things may very well help others in the long run. And to me, sexual health is a theoretical field mostly, even if there is a practical part to it; you hardly need porn to learn how to use a condom, or recognize the symptoms of a few STDs.

But yeah, I agree, there is a tendency to make it about romance rather than anything sexual, and at the same time shutting out actual ace people

Yeah, and there are no reasons any of these topics are in competition. If anything, health or disability are as political as an academic, quantitative analysis of how mainstream pornography is perceived by a certain group, to draw again from the festival I have in mind.
And having rapid HIV testing and sanitary pads available for free at a festival is a kind of prefiguration politics, a small scale demonstration of how you wish to restructure the healthcare system to serve gender and sexual minorities.

I don't get where porn comes in though. It's been around since TV. That's just entertainment like anything else. Maybe my mind works differently, I don't know :)

I just think a lot of people are still stuck in the 50s, even people born when I was in the 80s are. I'm not saying everyone is because I certainly am not but I mean in how society operates on a day to day basis people seem stuck in a time capsule with their ideas

I bet in the future things will progress for the better. Maybe by then even the teachers will know about sex education and how to or not to teach it

On sexual identity I must admit I don't know anything about it. That might be a good subject too :hmm:

Porn is older than writing.
