A joke because Canada prides itself on being multicultural and multiethnic, but still follows a racialist worldview where the ethnicity of a person is assumed from their biological traits, whereas Portugual apparently doesn't. It probably makes more sense if you live here.Prowler wrote:I don't get it?

It's a joke. It doesn't matter if it's true or not.Prowler wrote:mōdgethanc wrote:A joke because Canada prides itself on being multicultural and multiethnic, but still follows a racialist worldview where the ethnicity of a person is assumed from their biological traits, whereas Portugual apparently doesn't. I have no idea...? I was only speaking for myself...

Is that still the case? I've been increasingly seeing Europeans wear athletic gear, including hoodies and jerseys from American colleges they never attended. So nowadays I have to look for other tells (e.g. whether they're smiling or not).
(Conversely, when I was at a German university, I was very interested in buying a sweatshirt with the name and seal because I knew it would have cachet back home. Meanwhile my German friends attending the same college were like, "I'd never wear something like that.")

The only thing I really take issue with there is the loose way that the term "white supremacy" is applied these days (or even, god forbid, "fascist").Saim wrote:One day you'll say this fully unironically, comrade.
